Mrs. Betty Moore, age 91, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Van Ayer Nursing Home in Martin, TN.
Betty was born on May 8, 1934, to the late Sarah Elizabeth Howell and George Beler Barclay in Clinton, KY.
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Ky, and cherished the connections she made within her community. Betty was a proud graduate of Murray State University, where she obtained an Art Degree. She began her professional career as a bookkeeper with Jim Moore and Associates, formerly in Martin, TN, Following her retirement, Betty continued to exemplify dedication and grace in her personal pursuits. She loved being an artist in her spare time, was a compassionate animal lover, and a dedicated activist. Her culinary talents, especially her love for traditional New Orleans cuisine and Italian foods brought joy to family and friends alike. Above all, Betty’s adventurous spirit and love of travel reflected her deep appreciation for the world’s beauty and the people she encountered.
She is survived by her husband, James O. Moore, two daughters; Janice (Danny) Moore Truett of Huntington, Tn, and Debbie (Roger) Brasfield of Martin, Tn, four grandchildren; Justin (Lucy) Truett of Medina, Tn, Dr. Ginger (Gabe) Thomas of Chattanooga, TN, James (Paige) Brasfield of Medina, Tn and Chris (Courtney) Brasfield of Chattanooga, TN, and six great-grandchildren; Beckham Truett of Medina, Tn, Harper Thomas of Chattanooga, Tn, Izzy Thomas of Chattanooga, TN, Hallie Brasfield of Medina, TN, Dane Brasfield of Medina, Tn and Kellen Brasfield of Chattanooga, Tn.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by one brother; Jimmy Russell Barclay.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Murphy Funeral Home.
Bro. Darrin Reynolds will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of service at Murphy Funeral Home
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, Tn.
Active Pallbearers will be:
Justin Truett, James Brasfield, Chris Brasfield, Gabe Thomas, Ben Moore, and Mark Rushing.
Honorary Pallbearers will be:
Roger Brasfield, Danny Truett, Dane Brasfield, and Beckham Truett.
