Betty Jane Overton McDaniel, age 92, a resident of Martin, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, after an extended illness. Born on February 10, 1934, in Greenfield, TN, to the late Raymond and Mary Abney Overton. She was the widow of the late Casey Edward McDaniel.

Betty Jane retired after 30 years as a seamstress at Wormser in Sharon, TN, and was a devoted homemaker. She was known for steady hands and quiet strength and the care she gave to her family and friends. Her life was defined by kindness, a strong work ethic, and deep devotion to those she loved.

Mrs. McDaniel is survived by two of her children, Danny Joe (Annette) McDaniel of Carpentersville, IL., and Greg McDaniel of Sharon, TN; eight grandchildren, Crystal Oliver of Martin, TN, Melissa (Mike) Johnson of Martin, TN, Casey (Valorie) Oliver of Greenfield, TN, Shandi Damron of Paducah KY, Josh (Candace) McDaniel of Memphis, TN, Casey McDaniel of North Carolina, Dylan McDaniel of New Johnsonville, TN and Lindsey (James) Phelps of Sharon, TN; thirteen great-grandchildren, Haley (Ashlee) Arnold, Hayden Oliver, Brennen Cobb, Laurin Cobb, Tatum Oliver, Tanner Oliver, Taylor Oliver, Nash Daly, Rosie McDaniel, Desi Phelps, DJ Phelps, Max McDaniel, and Violet McDaniel.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Casey Edward McDaniel; two children, Vicki McDaniel Jackson and Jeff McDaniel; one great-grandson, Dane Ray Swindell; and four siblings, Basil Overton, Gene Overton, Stella Overton Swindell, and Martha Overton Priestly.

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., both at Murphy Funeral Home.

A celebration of life for Betty Jane will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon, TN.
