Emmer Bricker

May 29, 1926 — September 11, 2025

Martin

Ms. Emmer Bricker, age 99, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Diversicare of Martin, TN.

Emmer Jane Kizer Bricker was born the only daughter to Pet Theodore Kizer and Mattie Jewel Moore Kizer on May 29, 1926, a Saturday.
She was born in McNairy County, Tennessee. She attended and graduated from High School in Selmer, Tennessee. On August 11, 1945, she married Jacob Sibert Bricker of McNairy County, Tennessee.

They had two children: Glynda (Timothy) Campbell of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Jimmy (Patricia) Bricker of Lawton, Oklahoma.
"Grammy" was cherished by her four grandchildren: Cheri, Thomas, Jamie, and Amy. She leaves four great-grandchildren to cherish her memory,
Bryce Gebhart, Ava Joy Campbell, Thomas Partrick Campbell, and Deacon James Bricker.

Ms. Emmer never formally attended college but was very much a part of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she first worked at the T-Room Restaurant next to campus and later at the University Library, and retiring from the University Bookstore. She called University staff by their first names on a regular basis. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin and a faithful member of the "Lizzy Biggs Sunday School Class" as long as she was able to attend services there. Her later years were spent in Dyersburg, Tennessee, with her daughter, Glynda, and her husband Tim.

Ms. Emmer loved her family, letter writing, gardening and her many pets - especially: Winky, Tramp and Butch I and Butch II. She always had a dog in her life which she often reminded us of telling fond stories of a small dog named "Shorty" - she had as a child- and all the ways she would sneak him into the house at bedtime keeping it a secret from her mother. She did her very best to stay in touch with seventy first cousins she had on her father's side of the family, plus nine more first cousins on her mother's side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister by choice, Neva Jane Moore of Memphis, Tennessee, her husband, Jacob Bricker and a host of TVA Family.

Private Graveside services will be held.

Murphy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 731-587-3121
