Gerald Jones

Mr. Gerald Wayne Jones, age 83. of Martin died Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Jackson Madison County Hospital.

Funeral service will be Monday, January 8, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Michael Moon officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home until service time at 1:00.

Pallbearers to serve are Dustin Jones, James Byrns, Blake Speer, Jerry Brasure, Ronnie King and Chase Lewis.

Mr. Jones is survived by his life partner, Brenda Chappell Jones of Martin; his daughter, Lisa (Tony) Griffin of Martin; his son, Lyndell "Lynn" Wayne (Peggy) Jones of Dresden, daughters, Sandy (Gary) Mansfield of Martin and Kathy (Tim) Dye of Mississippi;  nine grandchildren, Nicole King, Chase Lewis, Jessica Speer, Dustin Jones, Courtney Scearce, Amanda Dye Martin, Brandon Dye, Jennifer Gallimore and James Byrns; seven great-grandchildren.

He was a retired barber and barber instructor.  He owned and operated The Men and Ladies Room in Martin and also Jones Barber Shop in Union City.  He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ in Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Jones and Mary Leonard Jones; one sister, Delano Moon and one son, Rick Byrns.
