Obituary

Mr. James "Jimmy" Marlin Wright, age 93, formerly of Martin, TN and a resident of McKenzie, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on August 15, 1932, in Martin, TN to the late Hubert Wright and Cassie MaryAnn Harrison Wright.

Mr. Wright was a distinguished Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the All-American Army Football Team. An active member at Martin Church of Christ, following his service, he retired after 40 years with UTM Concessions. He contributed to the family enterprise, Tom's Peanuts, and was a part owner of Dobson and Wright Chevy and Pontiac. Additionally, he owned Jimmy's #1 and #2 pool halls and spent a decade working on campus with White Castle. An avid golfer, Mr. Wright’s career and passions reflected his dedication, versatility, and commitment to excellence.

James is survived by his wife of 77 years, Nellie Grey Melton Wright of Martin, TN; one daughter, Susan Wright of Memphis, TN; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Ridley Wright of Martin, TN; two grandchildren, James Logan Wright of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kassi Lynn Wright of Martin, TN;

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Marlin Wright; four siblings, Dale Wright, Dorothy Wright, Dessel Wright, and Darrel Wright.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of service in our funeral chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2026, in our funeral chapel.
Bro. Danny Cash will officiate.
