Jerry Edward Davis

December 1, 1947 — July 15, 2025

Martin

Jerry Edward Davis, 77, of Martin passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, surrounded by those he loved, after a life defined by faith, service, and deep devotion to his family and the Lord.

Born on December 1, 1947, Jerry graduated from Peabody High School in 1965 and went on to serve in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He worked faithfully at Goodyear for 34 years, from 1968 until his retirement in 2002.

Jerry was married to the love of his life, Gladys, in September of 1968. Throughout their 56 years of marriage, they built a strong and faithful family rooted in love and devotion.

A man of deep faith, Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on November 5, 1975. He was later ordained as a deacon and served his church faithfully for many years. He sang bass in the choir and taught Sunday school. He was always eager to share his story of how Jesus changed his life through the Gospel. His walk with Christ left a lasting impact on many. His faith wasn’t just part of who he was—it shaped how he loved, how he led, and how he lived. Everyone who met him came away better for it. He made people feel seen, loved, and at ease—just by being himself.

Jerry loved the outdoors – especially hunting, fishing, and raising champion trial dogs. He especially enjoyed trips to Canada with his son and close friends, which became one of his favorite adventures. He spent many summers with his grandchildren, enjoying time together and making memories. He had a gift for storytelling, and his gentle humor and wisdom made him easy to love and hard to forget.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Jamie (Cassie) Davis of Martin; daughter, Ginger McEwen (Jeffrey) of Martin; grandchildren, Myles McEwen and Faith Lewis (Jacob) of Greenfield; great-granddaughter Audrey; and sister, Cynthia “Jane” (Ricky) Gowan of Trezevant. He was preceded in death by his parents, George M. Davis and Media L. Davis, and his brother, George Robert Davis. Jerry will be remembered for his strong character, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His life was a living testimony of unashamed faith, and his legacy will carry on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
