John (Mike) Michael Smothers

Mr. John Michael (Mike) Smothers, age 69, of Dover, TN formerly of Martin, TN, died Friday, 11/29/2019, at Alive Hospice Residence, Nashville, TN.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 5, 2019, 10:00 A.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Griffin officiating.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday.  Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday with Military Honors at Tennessee Sate Veterans Cemetery at Parker Crossroads.  

Mr. Smothers was retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 31 years of service where he served as a crash reconstructionist.  He was a graduate of Martin High School and was a veteran; U.S. Air Force serving in Vietnam.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Smothers is survived by his wife, Deborah Smothers, Dover, TN; his daughters, Sherry (Neil) Proctor, Mt. Juliet, TN, and Diane (Sofiene) Lessis of Dunnellon, FL;  son, Justin (Jamie) Smothers of Dover, TN; seven grandchildren; brother, Don (Lee) Smothers, Burna, KY.

Mr. Smothers was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Priest; a grandchild; his parents, Sterling and Mary Brock Smothers.
