Martha Brooks Butler

Mrs. Martha Brooks Butler, age 76, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 26, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Wayne Wendt officiating.  Burial will follow in Cate Cemetery in Martin.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Friday until service time at 11:00.

Martha is survived by her husband, Lloyd Butler of Jackson, TN; her son, Charles Atkinson of Murray, KY; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Brooks Holley and William Holley, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Wilma Logan Brooks; nephews, Phill Brooks, Barry Brooks, Walter Brooks, George Spellings and John Spellings; nieces, Geill Brooks Glover, Joy Spellings McPhail and Sandy Spellings Phillips; great-nieces and nephews and great great-nieces and nephews.

Martha was born in Martin, TN and was a graduate of Martin High School and The University of Tennessee at Martin.  She was a retired teacher from Bradford School District and after retirement she did substitute teaching.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Frank Brooks; her brother, Gerald Brooks, and sister, Marie Brooks Spellings.
