Mrs. Martha Emma Cohoon Pruiett, age 90, of Martin, Tennessee, passed away on November 11, 2025, at her residence.
Martha was born January 3, 1935, to the late Annie Laurie White and Russell William Cohoon in Blytheville, Arkansas. She grew up in Holland, Missouri, and during her young adult years met the love of her life, Edward Lloyd Pruiett. They eventually married in 1958 and celebrated 64 years of marriage. Martha and Lloyd made their first home in Forrest City, Arkansas, and then they relocated to Sikeston, Missouri and where they eventually retired. After the passing of her husband, Martha relocated to Martin to be closer to one of her boys.
Martha was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Martin, TN, where she was as active as she could be in the Senior Adult Ministry. Before Central, she and Lloyd were very active in their church in Sikeston, where they served in the senior adult ministry there. Martha cherished her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. She was very much a hostess and loved to have many people in her home. She was exceptionally accomplished, holding a Master’s degree in Biology from Arkansas State University and also a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Murray State University. Her greatest joys were her three boys, cooking delicious meals, sewing with love, and making precious memories with her family, whom she adored.
Martha is survived by her three sons: Eddie (Lisa) Pruiett of Wynne, AR, Bobby Pruiett of Ozark, AL, and Russell (Ashley) Pruiett of Martin, TN; five grandchildren: Trey (Kathryn) Pruiett of Wynne, AR, Lindsey (Hunter) Green of Wynne, AR, Jordan Pruiett of Ozark, AL, Jacob Pruiett of Ozark, AL, and Emma Pruiett of Martin, TN; five great grandchildren, and one sister: Judith Cohoon Carr of Atlanta, GA.
In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lloyd Pruiett; one brother, John Cohoon; one grandson, Ben O’Guinn; and one great-granddaughter, Stevie Jane Pruiett.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Martin TN. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will be available until the beginning of the service. Rev. Kylan Mann will officiate. Burial will be held on Monday November 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
