Maurice Edward Field, 57, formerly of Martin, TN, passed away March 5, 2026, in a Belize City hospital. 

He was born and raised in Martin, receiving a BA at UTM. He was known for his exceptional guitar skills, both rock and classical, playing in several rock bands around the area in high school, as well as giving a UTM junior classical recital.

After college at UTM, he moved to Memphis, where he earned an MBA at the University of Memphis. He worked for FedEx, where he loaded cargo planes. Later, he owned his own lawn-care business.

He went to Belize on a UTM trip, fell in love with the country, and later with his wife-to-be. He taught at Galen University in San Ignacio, Belize, until retiring several years ago.

He leaves his wife, Bartola Cunil Field, and children Karyme and Julissa Cunil, Sebastian and Carla Field, and one granddaughter, Kaydee Cunil, all of Esperanza Village, Belize.

He was the son of Carla Wilson Field and the late Maurice Houston Field. He leaves his sister, Alicia Field Pinto, and her son Christopher (Bailey).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
