Shelby Giles

Shelby Giles, a beloved mother, nurse, and member of the Martin community, passed away peacefully at her residence in Martin, Tennessee, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on November 18, 1936, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to Homer Ball and Venis Tomenson Ball, she pursued a career as a Registered Nurse, touching countless lives with her compassionate care before her well-deserved retirement.

Shelby was a devoted and active member of The First Baptist Church of Martin, Tn. Beyond her faith, she found joy in her many hobbies, including quilting, traveling to new and exciting places, and the companionship of her bridge club. 

Shelby’s warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her son, Sheldon (Debra) Giles of Knoxville, Tennessee, and all those whose lives she graced with her presence.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday May 22, 2025, at The First Baptist Church in Martin, Tn.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, beginning at 10:00am until the hour of service at the church.
