Sherry Deniece Long

Ms. Sherry Deniece Long, age 60, of Martin, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

She was born June 5, 1965, to the late Sherry Matlock and was raised in Dresden, TN.

Deniece will be remembered for her perseverance, vibrant spirit, and love for her family. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she faced every trial with determination, courage, and a smile that could light up any room. She had an ability to see beauty even in the hardest seasons.

She found joy in the simple blessings of life—poetry, puzzles, cooking, fishing, and playing games on her iPad. More than anything, Deniece treasured her role as an aunt. Her nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own, were the light of her life.

She is survived by her fiancé, Charles D. Herndon of Martin, TN; two nieces, Sadie (Channing) Miller of Murray, KY, and Alexa (Asher) Doli of Martin, TN; one great-nephew, Lincoln Miller of Murray, KY; and two great-nieces, Emma Doli of Martin, TN, and Charlotte Miller of Murray, KY.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her great-niece, Chloe Rickman, and her aunt, Kaye Sadler.
