Van "Bubba" Duncan Alexander

January 29, 1984 — July 19, 2025

Martin

Mr. Van "Bubba" Duncan Alexander, age 41 and a resident of Martin, Tennessee, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama.

Bubba was born on January 29, 1984 in Milan, TN. He was the only child of Van and Donna (Brake) Alexander.
Bubba was a multi-sport athlete growing up. He graduated from Milan High School in 2002 where he played baseball, football, and soccer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and generally being outdoors.
Following high school, Bubba went to Railroad School after which he worked his way up the ranks to becoming a Locomotive Engineer with CSX and later the Canadian National (CN) Railway Company.
Bubba met his high school sweetheart Julie (Johnson) Alexander of Martin, TN in 2001.
He and Julie married on May 10, 2008. The couple lived in Milan during their early years together where they had their daughter Rainsley Mae Alexander on November 23, 2009. The family of three moved to Martin in 2011. There, Bubba and Julie had their son Colson Zeke Alexander on May 5, 2014, to complete their immediate family of four. Throughout his life, Bubba always took joy in small moments. He was a fierce and loyal friend and an even more loving father and husband. Whether he was in a duck blind, deer hunting, or just hanging out in the shop with family or friends, Bubba was always funny and quick witted. He lightened every room he was in and touched every life that he came in contact with. Bubba was beloved by all. Bubba and his family truly enjoyed relaxing at the beach each summer. This year was no different, as the family traveled to Dauphin Island for one last trip together. In his final days, Bubba spent time on the beach, casting a fishing line, and playing games with family. He passed in nearby Mobile, AL on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Bubba is survived by his wife Julie (Johnson) Alexander; daughter Rainsley Alexander; son Colson Alexander; father-in-law Jim Johnson (of Martin, TN); mother-in-law Gina Johnson (of Martin, TN); brother-in-law Kelsey Johnson (of Chicago, IL); childhood best friend and Best Man Will Manning (of Bradford, TN); cousins Mike and Cindy Willis (of Birmingham, AL) and their children Kaitlyn Willis (of Bozeman, MT) and Dalton Willis (of Birmingham, AL); and aunt Rachel Brake (of Milan, TN) among many other beloved family and friends.
